Ratings and your orbit

How are scores calculated?

You rate Fun, Gameplay, Art and sound, and Story from one to five stars. Fun picks the score range: five stars puts a game between 8.5 and 10, four between 7.0 and 8.4, three between 5.5 and 6.9, two between 4.0 and 5.4, and one below 4.0. The other three ratings decide where the game lands inside that range. Your scores don’t change as your library grows.

What happens when two games have the same score?

You choose: keep them tied, or put one ahead of the other. Tied games share a rank and have the same size in your orbit.

How do I change a rating?

Open the game and choose Change ratings. To mark a game as want to play, playing or played, use Edit details. Played games always have a rating.

What does my orbit show?

Every game you’ve ranked is a world around your star. Higher-ranked games are larger worlds. Games you started earlier orbit closer to the star; if there’s no start date, the date you added the game is used. Distance shows order, not time elapsed. Tap a world to see its details.

Discovery

How do discovery flights work?

Tap Explore new worlds and your pilot visits up to five games picked for your taste. Save any to Want to play, or tap Not for me to keep a game out of future flights. You can bring hidden games back in Settings under Hidden from Discover. If you leave mid-flight, Resume flight picks up where you stopped without using another flight.

Free accounts get two flights a day, Basic ten, and Pro unlimited. Flights reset at midnight UTC. If flying through the cockpit isn’t comfortable, choose Simplified discovery for the same flight as a standard list.

What is a predicted score?

It’s our estimate of how you would score a game you haven’t played, based on your ratings and your friends’ scores. It’s a guide, not a rating you gave.

Friends and privacy

How do I add friends?

In Friends, tap Add friends and search for a handle, enter a six-character friend code, or share your own link. Friendships start when the other person accepts your request.

How do I earn the Hamster and Penguin pilots?

Share your invite link. When a new player confirms your code, joins and saves a first game, that invite counts. Two successful invites unlock the Hamster; five unlock the Penguin. Track your progress in Your invites. A rating isn’t required, and the game they saved stays private.

Who can see my profile and notes?

Profiles start Public, which means anyone can see your name, handle, bio, pilot, platforms, taste and your played games with their ranks and scores. In Edit profile you can choose Friends or Only me instead. Notes, tags and play dates are private unless you share a note. A shared note is a copy: editing the private note later doesn’t change it until you share again. See the privacy policy for details.

How do I report or block someone?

Use the menu on their profile or post. Only our moderators and you see a report. Blocking hides your profiles and posts from each other and removes any friendship or pending request between you. Read the community guidelines.

Your account

How do I join the beta?

Install Apple’s TestFlight app, then open the GameOrbit beta invitation on your iPhone or iPad. If the invitation says the beta isn’t accepting testers yet, check back soon.

How do I use GameOrbit on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple or Google account you used before. Your library syncs automatically and stays available offline once it has loaded.

I can’t sign in.

Make sure you’re using the same Apple or Google account you signed up with. GameOrbit support doesn’t ask for your password, a sign-in code or a session token.

How do memberships work?

Basic and Pro are optional annual subscriptions through Apple. They add more daily flights and other features described in the app, where you’ll also see current prices. Manage or cancel renewal in your Apple Account’s subscription settings. Restore purchases uses the Apple Account that bought the membership; it doesn’t restore your game library.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile, open Settings and choose Delete account. This permanently removes your account and its data from our service, and from the device you’re using. Your Apple subscription isn’t cancelled automatically; manage it in your Apple Account settings. The privacy policy lists exactly what is deleted.

Can I get a copy of my data?

Yes. Email us and we will send it after confirming the account is yours.
